The Sierra Center for Community Options (SCCO) celebrates the Heritage, Ecological, and Community Assets of the Sierra and Mother Lode Region.

The SCCO seeks to facilitate the use of these assets to enhance the potential for sustainable wealth generation, health, and overall well-being.

The SCCO provides Workshops, Visioning Processes, Educational Materials, and Media Outreach to accomplish these goals.

The SCCO specializes in working with Non-Profits, Heritage Entrepreneurs, Enlightened Developers, Towns, and Regional Organizations.

The SCCO engages the courage, caring, and creativity of its clients.  By nurturing the blending of emerging ideas and knowledge, the SCCO seeks to resolve with clarity and authenticity - by consensus-seeking -  community designs that work  for all residents with minimal ecological damage or disadvantage to anyone.

The Sierra Center for Community Options will be providing an El Dorado County Envisioning Community Event:

Saturday, December 4, 2010
8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
El Dorado Community Hall
6139 Pleasant Valley Road
El Dorado, California

This is a true grassroots community envisioning event - for the people, by the people.  What does that mean?

Past economic development models have in fact led to taxpayer-subsidized big box stores, low-wage jobs, and high-density housing sprawl that brings traffic to rural roads, affects the scenic beauty and historical assets in El Dorado County, and destroys small independent businesses and wildlife habitat.

The alternative is that community members are invited drop in to the community envisioning event to help create the vision for high paying and meaningful jobs; sound communities; vibrant historic downtowns with independent businesses; and livable and quality neighborhoods.  Help enhance our historic, environmental,  and cultural assets by dropping in between 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the El Dorado Community Hall on December 4, 2010.  This will be an informal drop-in event where you can anonymously - or not - post and communicate your ideas about what you want your El Dorado County communities to look like in the future.

The results will be presented to local Governments, leaders, and organizations. The results will also be available on this Web site and Local Channel 2 on Comcast.
